the connection and tension between the organic and the man-made world are karla paredes’ main themes. karla’s work results from a deep understanding of natural processes and forms. by combining materials like clay, wood or cast with synthetic and natural objects, karla creates poetic sculptures. it is a game of coincidence and control which she plays to incorporate physical contact with her work. sometimes fragile, sometimes full of strenght, the objects are playing with the contrasts of life.

karla is creating installations from her sculptural work, to show the deeper connection between things. within herself, western logic collides with a south american mysthycism, balancing these influences allows a creating force which is essential for karla’s work.
both the natural and the manufactured world are part of our reality. karla is diving into the connection between ourselves and our environment. how do we define nature?
