geronimo says

brey’s artwork is on humans and their interactions with each other. using her small to large format drawings, she shows us relationships between individuals within a group, dynamics between subject and collective plus fundamentally fundamental characteristics of interpersonal relationships. Sometimes – to pull us even deeper in her mindset of dreamlike sceneries – she is combining her graphite drawings with objects, text elements and walk-in installations.
the figures in her work represent fundamental philosophical questions about human existence and its connections. Sometimes these figures are abstracted and only hinted, sometimes detailed and elaborated. The same goes for her text work: poetic stories combined with hard keywords. aside her great talent in the art of realistic drawing, one must not overlook her strength in writing.

brey’s art reflects her multicultural upbringing. Her thematic focus is transferring autobiographical personal experiences with family background to social subjects.

in addition to human figures, organic elements – such as wave-like shapes, trees or fire – form an elementary part of Brey’s work. These elements go beyond their function as a backdrop and become an independent character. They also illustrate the preoccupation with scientific topics and the awareness on how humans are only a small part of a larger organism.
